WRITING
From long, ponderous prose set in far away fantasy lands to compelling literary reportage to sardonic media reviews to technical writing to straight journalism, I continue to write for purpose and pleasure. Here are a few examples.

NESmaker - A Modern IDE for NES Development
NESmaker is a first of its kind modern development tool for creating brand new, hardware playable, cartridge based NES games. Users with zero programming experience can rapidly prototype ideas and see them come to life in their favorite emulator or on actual cartridge via the classic video game system from the mid 80s that we all loved so much. The product is a complex marriage of hardware and multiple softwares that work in synthesis to enable a Windows-based drag and drop style program to churn out low level Assembly code and, using our cartridge flashing hardware, produces a legitimate, playable Nintendo game. I have managed every part of this product from seedling of an idea to its eventual and continuing.

Surpassing Expectations
The initial capital for the NESmaker series of products was raised through crowdfunding. This was an awareness strategy as much as it was a fund raising effort. As a prime metric for success, over a quarter million dollars was raised in just thirty days, just shy of 800% of our modest goal. But perhaps a better metric for success is that this campaign gave us a running start of 2500 active, vocal product emissaries, who served as the foundation for a loyal community, creating an exponentially growing feedback loop in the social media sphere for supporting continued marketing efforts.
From Rough Concept to Manufacturing
Managing the NESmaker line involved in depth personal research into the NES system itself, as well as the development of a new agile API, written in (the archaic) Assembly code. Once completed, the main task was to manage a wide breadth of creatives and manufacturers stationed around the world to produce the custom software and hardware that could work with that low level ASM. This included creating extensive technical design documents and detailed spec sheets, often having to translate between multiple programming languages. I synthesized UX designers, programmers, and hardware manufacturers to realize the project. Since the Beta release, I have continued to manage improvements to the creation software, a slimline version of the NESmaker Kit's hardware, and a new cartridge board design that will allow wifi connectivity on a system from a time before "the internet" was a common term.

The Face of the Brand
From the project's inception, I have been the face of the product, representing NESmaker at events such as GDC, SXSW, and PAX, and giving educational talks at institutions such as UCLA, University of Baltimore, and Towson University. I am the voice behind dozens of hours of tutorials, and it's my enthusiastic grin on hours of uploaded video content. I've written copy for advertisements and press releases, written scripts for commercials, managed the majority of social media, appeared on podcasts and radio shows, and personally interfaced with investors and global retailers. One of the benefits of having deep experience in marketing and communication strategies from my time with Ringling College is that I know how to work with press and the public, and I also have a firm grasp on the marketing process in general.
