One of the benefits of creating games for a physical medium is that the tangible elements are such an integral part of the experience. The box and manual aren't just afterthoughts, they are formative in communicating the game world.
In the Mystic Origins manual, the goal was to convey tone and narrative with every single descriptor, whether that was articulating the control scheme, explaining the hud, or describing monsters' AI behavior patterns.

COPY:
A mysterious orb that crackles with magical potential. A sturdy old lute that thirsts to give voice to the song of the world as much as to drink the blood of evil creatures. A young hero who carries both, searching for the mythical lost continent of Myrinda.
But since setting foot in the land of Varekai, it's been nothing but trouble for Julian, the wandering minstrel who seems to attract these kind of problems, whether or not he's wearing monster musk!
Who is that mysterious old man in the ruined temple? Why does he expect Julian to solve all of Varekai's problems single-handedly? To find out, you'll have to survive over fifty screens of fantasy adventure, with secrets to explore, magical relics to collect, and a robust agrarian society in which to participate!
Towns, caves, swamps, and enchanted forests...discover everything you need to know to keep Julian alive in the dangerous and exotic realms through which he travels in this prequel quest to the upcoming Mystic Searches.
